Further OWL logo development.

Decided to return to the notebook and doodle some more ideas. When I woke up and saw the previous design, I couldn't help but see a mischivious face so I concluded that the shape needed to change.

Another reason for the shape change was the type didn't work with the cicrcular symbol.

As seen in the designs above I've increased the height of the symbol and flattened the bottom.
I'm hoping the type will work better with this design.

Comparing the newer design next to the previous one. I've went for a solid shape this time with the eyebrows cutting into the shape to break it up a bit. I've also decreased the amount of detail.

I felt the left design looked quite bare so included simple shapes within the owl with no detail.
Leeds/ Yorkshire is well known for being hilly so I decided to incorporate them into the Owl. They also represent folding wings.

The new design with the type. For this moment in time, I've used Brandon Grotesque but I want to sort the core symbol out first before I focus on type. Its beginning to take shape.

An alternative for the hills/wings. I'm not sure which one I prefer...

A few other alternatives as well some examples with type (both sans and serif) I've also tired to go back to the name OWL as it works quite well.

I've combined the word Northern and Owl together to create NOWL. It also has a certain northern ring to it as its quite similar to the slang word Nowt meaning; nothing.
