Response from Rosie.
Today I received an email with Rosie's responses to the designs. In the time that she has been away, I've been able to come up with a whole range of designs with different colours/textures/layout and type treatment.
The email is as follows:
Hi Simon,
I hope your well!
I've had a look at the progress you've made on your blog- I really like what you've done.
I am happy for you to still create an identity for me and I think the circle that you have chosen from a piece of my work is very appropriate.
My favorite design so far is your most recent blog post (more2.jpg) - I think the layout reminds me of how I collage and place different shapes and objects together. I also think it works a lot better than the other designs were my name is placed directly in the center. With the last design, it places emphasis on the circle (form), texture and colour (grey stock) and my details.
Texture and experimenting with different materials (such as gold foiling, flocking, stone effect spray paint) is a key part of my work therefore I really like your idea of printing onto grey stock/recycled paper/other grainy materials.
The business card of the 4 circles coming together to make a whole is my favorite. This links well to my practice, due to the fact there are often subtle connections that can be made throughout my paintings and drawings and I think that idea is reflected nicely in the piecing together of the cards. I also think the business card with the neon green and grey and the white thin circle to the left of information (https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYcg5cauM2kG_q_RpLlGp4mm-Yw7lb9FrmZiN5YdGyJPIYrb_W-UaTle7w0rS-vWkTWPfSNXM4FyA7qyE_Sl7DG8eDWMLkz5RXBZdEHrl5WzdSAO__BygEtbSL5nGPsrLtMxyeNWPCLUI/s1600/Screen+Shot+2013-03-11+at+22.50.55.png) works well, although I think this design is quite specific to a certain few pieces of my work and the previous business card with just the circle parts on them could be easily applied to my whole practice.
I also think the coloured circles you have layed over one another are interesting. Particularly this one (https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgChVXHWbd9m5eEdM900ExubCdSBIwmky1oD_X9qEFuJ8rqq-csY1ZAB2isq0MdtSlwCjuanmYxFgL0pHIynjcWH4kXt-fi9g1fLfZeC4JMSfpePj93yMLlbPDVcJaVZW7FQZDMQPe68LQ/s1600/POSTERCOLOUR.jpg) - with regards to how they create different colours by overlapping, which seems to reflect how I experiment, and discover new things with layering materials in my practice. I'm not sure if the colours are suitable for my work though, maybe if these were with colours that are more prominent within my current practice (Baby Pink, Gold, Br. Yellow, Stone Grey, Br. Red)
Lastly, I'm not sure if my name in the circle sits well on top of my drawing:

But I wonder what it would look like if you cropped the circle out of one of my drawings and used the circle of drawing in your designs? If you see what I mean? (So it would be a filled circle of a cropped section of my drawing). Although I think overall I prefer the more minimal approach you have taken with the most recent design with texture.
With regards to the pictures- I may have some higher resolution pictures on my memory stick that I could drop by tomorrow? I am also going to take some pictures tonight of my paintings so I will include some of those as well.
Thanks very much, I'm really happy with the designs.
Kind regards,
Rosie
