Having cleared up the hierarchy on the posters, I've decided to tweak the design.
I've kept the strong type as it works well but changed a few things around in terms of the layout.

The shapes seemed a little flat so to add a bit more texture to the shapes, I experimented with the blending options in illustrator. I started with two circles, one inside the other.

This was the result. I've also tried the texture out in colour.

I applied the circle within a new design. Using strong type and layout I've made the hierarchy clear.

A variation on the previous design. I made the type red for added strength. I've left the artist's name in black so it becomes the first thing the viewer sees on the page.
