Poster initial design
I noticed this sign online and noticed they had used a serif typeface
So started on the poster and started experimenting with different typefaces
I started with a document just bigger than a square format.
I thought a black and white sign would be striking but not look too tacky. The white sign had the name of the exhibition on it and Leeds College of Art white and black.
This was the finished poster. I've since showed it Matt who said he'll add it to the pitch and change it if need be.

End of year Show props.
Matt's idea was to get some props for the End of Year Show. It may be a totally different step to what the College is used to but we thought it was worth pushing the idea. This was also to fit with the College's tendency of having photography feature in the final shows.
Matt put together this mock up based on the idea. Matt did a good job of photoshopping but we knew it was just to show the idea. Here's hoping to the marketing team not favouring pitches based on design and can hopefully see past the photoshop work.

Receipt idea.
During the brainstorming session, I came up with the idea of having a receipt. This idea stemmed from the market stall theme and also when one goes to the shops, market or leaves somewhere, you leave with a receipt.
We started looking at receipts to visualise the idea.
This one was too designed and seemed out of place amongst the market stall aesthetic.
We then saw these more general receipts you may find at a market, or a supermarket.
Matt then took it upon himself to work on a receipt whilst I cracked on with the posters/signage.

Further ideas
Today Dom, Matt and I had a mini brainstorming session. This included drawing up some rough ideas of what we wanted to show for the End of Year Show.
We gave the market stall idea quite a lot of thought. We thought of using fruit crates with 'The Fruits of Our Labour' on the boxes.
The fruit crates. These are more solid boxes but it'll be interesting
These are the ones we're after.

Further ideas.
We all agreed that "The fruits of our labour was a really good phrase. It's different and a powerful statement.
We all went away to think of design direction and a way of applying the concept to the deliverables.
To get started, I began to look at market stalls and signs for visual stimuli .
Something like this (above) would be perfect. It's very stylised but I love the use of bold type and the colours make for a distinctive aesthetic.
This image (above) has a very traditional aesthetic but again, uses strong type and a distinctive style.

End of Year Show. (PITCH)
Dom, Matt T and myself are collbaroating for the End of Year Show pitch.
We all agreed that despite the high execution of previous years, the idea of revealing or coming out of hiding (hide and seek) is a dead concept. It becomes too obvious and that's something we consciously avoided.
We started generating alternative ideas and came up with a few buzzwords.
Hard work
Showing off
labour
Revealing ourselves to everyone
And then Matt came up with 'Fruits of our Labour'
"The results of one's work. We displayed the fruits of our labor at the county fair. What have you accomplished? Where is the fruit of your labours?"Revealing ourselves to everyone
And then Matt came up with 'Fruits of our Labour'
